Professor Luc Deliens
Luc Deliens, PhD, is Professor of Palliative Care Research and the Founding Director of the End-of-Life Care Research Group of the VUB University & Ghent University in Belgium. He is member of the Royal Academy of Medicine of Belgium. Internationally, he co-chairs the European Association for Palliative Care Research Network (EAPC RN) and the EAPC Reference Group on Public Health and Palliative Care, and is involved in different on-going EU funded research projects.
His research is focusing on palliative care in cancer, aging and palliative care and public health and palliative care. Up till now, he successfully supervised 43 PhDs and is actually supervising about 25 PhD students. He published over 500 papers in peer reviewed journals, over 40 book chapters, and Co-authored or edited 16 books. He received several scientific awards for his scientific work in end-of-life care, palliative care or end-of-life decision making.

Vincent van Goethem
Vincent Van Goethem obtained his bachelor 'Occupational Therapy' in 2016 (Gent, Arteveldehogeschool). Afterwards he graduated from the University of Ghent in 2018 as MSc in Health Education and Health Promotion. During his education, he has shown interest in cancer research. In 2019 he joined the End-of-Life Care Research Group as a PhD-student on the CAPACITY-project where he will develop an E-health application to support people with advanced cancer and their caregivers.
Orphé Matthys
Orphé obtained her Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Ghent University in 2015 with honors. Her dissertation concerned the interpersonal consequences of near-death experiences. Additionally, she completed a Master in Marketing Management at the Vlerick Business School in 2016. After working several years in a business context, Orphé joined the End-of-Life Care Research Group in Ghent in January 2019, where she was hired as a doctoral researcher on the DIAdIC project in Belgium.
