Professor Kevin Brazil
Professor Brazil holds the appointment of Professor of Palliative Care in the School of Nursing and Midwifery, Queen’s University Belfast. He is a Fellow in the Centre of Social Innovation and Evidence, Queen’s University Belfast. He holds an honorary appointment in the Department of Health Research Methods, Evidence, and Impact, Faculty of Health Sciences, McMaster University, Hamilton, Ontario Canada. Professor Brazil’s research focuses on the structure, process, and outcomes in service delivery of quality care for family carers and patients as they near the end-of-life. This work assists in the development, evaluation and translation of new and innovative interventions to improve access, quality and outcomes in this population. He has over 300 publications including 187 peer review journal publications related to these interests. He has been active on working and advisory groups at the international and national levels and has served on grant review boards in both Canada and Europe.

Dr David Scott
David Scott is a health services researcher whose general research interests include the design, development and evaluation of services designed to enhance the wellbeing and quality of life of palliative care patients and patients with advanced cancer and their lay carers. He has additional research interests in mental health service provision and, in particular the mental health of the offender population. His research has involved the implementation of a wide range of health service research methodologies including systematic reviews, randomised controlled trials, case-control studies, quasi-experimental approaches, realist evaluation and qualitative methods.
Professor Joanna Reid
Professor Joanne Reid is the Director of Research and a Professor of Cancer and Palliative care at the School of Nursing and Midwifery in Queen's University Belfast; and Chair of the Palliative Care Research Network at the All Ireland Institute of Hospice and Palliative Care. She has research interests in mixed methods research with patients and their carers. She has completed local and international studies in this area and has strong links with multi-disciplinary international collaborators.
Dr Gillian Prue PhD, BSc, FHEA
As senior lecturer in chronic illness, Gillian’s research focuses on cancer prevention, survival and reduction of cancer-related symptoms in both clinical and population-based research. She is currently working on a number of projects in the field of cancer care and symptom reduction. In 2003, Gillian graduated from the University of Ulster with a first class honours degree in Physiotherapy. In 2008 she completed a PhD in the area of cancer-related fatigue. As a physiotherapist, Gillian has an interest in ‘exercise as medicine’ and the role of physical activity in cancer prevention and survival.
Gillian has recently been appointed as the co-Chair of the newly formed NCRI Acute Care and Toxicities Workstream. In addition, Gillian is a member of the Board of Global Action on Men’s Health and the Men’s Health Forum in Ireland.
